" Please note on the video that Crans-Montana's 18th hole was modified by Ballesteros years later (during the mid 90's he renovated the course that now bears his name), the front side bunker at the 18th hole was replaced by two ponds as well as the golf shot site now has a marble tombstone, this is the story of the shot.. 4th round 1993 Swiss Open, trailing Englishman Barry Lane by one shot Ballesteros needed a birdie at the 410 Yards Par 4 18th Hole. Off the tee Ballesteros pushes his 3 wood to the right into a group of pine trees, ball lying in pine needles and 5 feet from the right corner of a 7 foot high concrete wall and 130 Yards from the hole.... the rest is history. "That Shot" on the 18th hole in the Canon European Masters. (Golf.com) - Crans Montana in Switzerland in 1993. He ignored caddie Billy Foster's advice to chip out sideways, and I clearly recall Billy (who now caddies for Lee Westwood) muttering as he walked to where I was lying down taking the pictures, "He's got no f---ing chance, but I somehow know he will prove me wrong!" Seve laid the face of his sand wedge wide open and sent the ball almost vertically over the wall, to the edge of the green. From there he chipped in for the most unbelievable birdie. Pure Seve! Credit: David Cannon (Reuters) - Seve Ballesteros's former caddie Billy Foster recalled the Spaniard's magical shot-making skills.. .."He was the People's Champion, a warrior on the golf course," Foster, who now carries the bag of world number one Lee Westwood, told Reuters in an interview.. ..Foster said one 150-yard stroke stood out in his mind above all others from the time he spent with Ballesteros. "There are so many good memories of him but I especially remember a wedge he played in Switzerland once from behind an eight-foot wall," said the caddie., .."No matter how hard I tried to dissuade him, I was saying, 'I know you're Seve Ballesteros but you're not a magician, just chip it out sideways', he said, 'Don't worry Billy -- this shot is no problem. "He waved me away and proceeded to hit a wedge with half a backswing over the wall, through some trees where there was a tiny gap the size of a dinner plate, over a swimming pool, over 60-foot trees, and got it five yards short of the green and then chipped in," added Foster. "Seve just laughed and I got down on my hands and knees and bowed"
