But only this time, we decided to stay along some of the famous rivers of North Bengal. Dawai Khola which translates to “medicinal river” and named aptly due to the presence of sulphur and various other minerals. The drive to this river, at least for 3-4 kms is not for the weak hearts. A medium to tough off-roading experience that will make sure you end up with adrenaline rush in your body. Chum' Mhen Tshu Farm Stay in Today Tangta Khasmahal, a popular glamping destination along Dawai Khola, has set up Geodesic Domes with all the amenities. We received a traditional welcome. The lunch was wonderful and provided hot. We passed the evening beside a bonfire, enjoying the cool wind with some hot snacks while gazing out at the breathtaking valley and the lights that could be seen on Bhutan's distant hills. That evening, as we ate dinner by the bonfire, we conversed about nature well into the night. We could hear the gushing sound of Dawai Khola river throughout our stay there and it turned more mesmerising at night. You might remember her from my Dooars series where I prepared coffee at her Cafe. Unfortunately, I couldn’t meet her as she was away attending a funeral in her village. By noon, we arrived in Rongo, and I will never forget my first impression of the river's surrounding thick forest and the Rongo Khola. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this picture-perfect place that looks like it belongs in a painting; everything seemed too lovely to be real. The oldest and most convenient homestay for us to be near the river was Rongo River Valley Homestay. The food and hospitality was outstanding. We spent a lot of time soaking in the river and relieving all of the stress . The Dalgaon View Point and the Chalsa View Point were on our route to NJP. Before arriving at NJP, we took a brief break for refreshments at Tea Moments by Mission Hill Cafe. Since our train was at 4:00 am the next morning, we settled down at the Hotel Balajee close to the NJP Station. We appreciate your ongoing support, everyone.
