Fiona Newell is a Professor of Psychology in Trinity College Dublin, where her research focuses on the processes of human perception. Fiona leads the Multisensory Cognition Group at the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience. The main goal of their research is to understand the brain and behavioural processes involved in the multisensory perception of objects, faces, bodies and scenes. Recently, this research has broadened into investigations of how aesthetics are perceived and how principles of 'neuroaesthetics' can be applied in design. Fiona has published over 60 papers in many of the leading journals in psychology and neuroscience. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
