We really don't pay too much time to them because lets be fair, they are hardly sexy! And when we buy a new car, its the one thing we don't spec, they just happen to come with the car. But tyres are the single most important component on your car - without them, nothing works! Just ask any racing driver...we are pottering along on the highways and byways, oblivious to the work the tyre is doing to keep us on the road but they are living on the edge, at the extreme of traction, grip, lateral load, heat and durability, so they really get to experience and appreciate the critical role they play! But what goes into producing a tyre? Goodyear took me on a trip to Luxembourg and down to their test facility in the south of France to help me understand and appreciate the complete tyre process - from the laboratory, the exhaustive testing under laboratory conditions and out in 'real world' conditions, before they are available for you and I to purchase. Its a truly fascinating story and experience...watch and hopefully you too will appreciate these black and round things we take for granted.
