Massive Expansion Begins on Accra–Volta Highway Kpone–Dawhenya Dualisation Update. The Accra–Volta Highway dualisation project is gaining significant momentum as construction activities intensify along the Kpone Barrier to Dawhenya section of the corridor. In this video, we capture the latest developments on the Accra–Volta Highway expansion, where contractors are currently clearing the shoulders of the existing road and preparing the foundation for the expansion into a modern dual carriageway. Several structures that previously stood within the project right-of-way have already been demolished after compensation was paid to affected property owners, allowing the expansion works to move forward. One of the major developments along this stretch is the construction of an overfly at the Kpone and Prampram junction, where structural works are already underway. Once completed, this interchange will significantly improve traffic flow at one of the busiest intersections along the Accra–Volta coastal corridor. Drainage systems have also been installed in certain sections to support proper water management and ensure the long-term durability of the highway infrastructure. At this stage of construction, asphalt has not yet been laid along this section, as contractors continue with earthworks, drainage installation, and preparation of the road foundation. The Accra–Volta Highway expansion is part of a major infrastructure initiative expected to improve connectivity between Accra, Tema, Prampram, Ada, and communities across the Volta Region.
