The Wichita Mountains are an out-of-place mountain range in southwestern Oklahoma. It's a place that seems more like New Mexico than Oklahoma. In this trip I visit one of the car camping sites at Doris Campground for one night before entering the Charon's Garden Wilderness Area. I visit the Crab Eyes rock structure and hike for a bit before settling in for some cold camping. Fires are not allowed in the wilderness area and the weather gets to freezing.
