Dogs are man's best friends, not just because of the company they give, but also because of the values they teach humans by being with them - that it's never too late to change, that you should never let you past dictate your future. They can heal us, they help us connect with ourselves, sometimes holding a mirror up to us. In this talk, Shirin Merchant speaks about the ground she covers with dogs - not just training the dogs, but also working with corporate employees, children and others who need help, but all through the dogs. According to her, there is no better teacher than a dog to help us imbibe the important values of empathy, kindness, humility, resilience and most importantly, humanity. Shirin Merchant is a pioneer in the field of canine training and behaviour in India. Over the past 26 years she has helped dogs with behaviour issues ranging from aggression, fears, separation anxiety and much more. She sees the world through the dogs’ eyes, and claims that what she sees is magic. As she puts it - it was actually the dogs who taught her powerful lessons in communication, empathy and most importantly, humanity.
