What was supposed to be a thrilling adventure across Puerto Rico quickly turned into one of the most chaotic and cursed road trips I’ve ever been on. From the very beginning, things seemed to spiral out of control. We were joined by Lao, a local YouTuber and urban explorer who’s uncovered more abandoned places across Puerto Rico than just about anyone. She acted as our guide, and from the moment we met, it felt like we’d known her for years. With Lao’s help, we mapped out a 10-day road trip to explore the island’s most haunting and forgotten locations—but nothing could’ve prepared us for what we were about to face. Our car got stuck in a massive hole deep in a forgotten neighborhood. The battery died—multiple times—leaving us stranded in some of the most remote areas imaginable. Police showed up just as we arrived at an eerie, fortress-like building known as the “Squid Game Castle.” We explored an abandoned cartel mansion shrouded in rumors, wandered through a decaying beach resort with stagnant pools and crumbling walls, and raced against the sun to squeeze in a visit to a haunted hotel tucked high in the mountains. And just when we thought the worst was behind us, we got into a car crash on a winding road at dusk. No one was seriously injured, but it shook us to the core. Despite all the chaos, we pressed on—driven by curiosity and the thrill of the unknown. Finally, after days of breakdowns, detours, and close calls, we reached our final destination: Roosevelt Roads, a massive abandoned U.S. Naval base once considered the largest military installation in the Caribbean. What we found there was haunting, surreal, and completely worth the journey. This video documents every twist and turn of that unforgettable road trip—from lost towns and overgrown ruins to the strange energy that followed us across the island.
