Dr. Christine Wade spoke about Nicaraguan history and key moments that shaped the country’s political evolution. She discussed the rise of Daniel Ortega. Dr. Wade also analyzed the 2018 protests and the aftermath. Finally, she analyzed the role of US policy and the Organization of American States (OAS). Bio Dr. Christine J. Wade is Professor of Political Science and International Studies and the Curator of the Louis L. Goldstein Program in Public Affairs at Washington College. She is the author of Captured Peace: Elites and Peacebuilding in El Salvador and co-author of Nicaragua: Emerging from the Shadow of the Eagle, Understanding Central America: Global Forces, Rebellion and Change, and A Revolução Salvadorenha. She is the co-author and co-editor of Latin American Politics and Development, 10e. She is also the author of other scholarly works on revolutions and peacebuilding in Central America.
