The Hollow Men - a digital poem

With my Digital Poem "The Hollow Men", in dialogue with T. S. Eliot, I sought to reveal how humans, laboring behind machines, gradually become the machines themselves— producing endlessly, sacrificing not only their personal identity and place of life, but ultimately the identity of an entire society. Some people toil in wretched conditions, in environments hostile to life itself, while others accumulate the profits generated by their labor. Industries close their doors and abandon the land, leaving behind wastelands of bones and dust, making ever more visible the social and class divisions of the industrial zone. Photographs from Elefsina and Aspropyrgos in West Attica reveal this stark landscape: abandoned factories, skeletal grounds, and the harsh presence of human labor rendered invisible. I explore the moment when the worker behind the machine becomes the machine— an endless engine of production, erasing his own face, his own ground, until even society forgets its name.
