Dear friends and new visitors, in this video you can see the second and final part of my trip to Krakow. At least a couple of videos about Warsaw will follow, which will conclude my series on Poland. We will start from Wawel Castle, the most important historical and cultural site in the entire country and a place that has a particular importance for all Poles. Located on the hill of the same name overlooking the Vistula River, it has a long and troubled historical past and has been the seat of a duke, bishop and king, to which the fascinating legend of the invincible Dragon finally defeated by a humble shoemaker is also linked. The complex, among the most important in Europe, is made up of the Royal Castle, with all its representative rooms that can be visited, as well as the Crown Treasury and the Armoury and the splendid Gothic-Renaissance Cathedral, a true jewel, the most important place of worship in Poland, dedicated to Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus, and for a long time also the place of coronation of Polish kings. Then we will continue completing the tour of the Old Town started with the first video, walking along its cobbled streets so full of charm and discovering its treasures, including many churches of rare beauty, such as the Church of St. Anne and the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. And then the historic Kanonicza street, among the best preserved, with medieval houses and painted facades. All around, you can admire the greenery of the Planty, the ring park that surrounds the city center. Then we will completely change scenery by entering the characteristic and equally historic district of Kazimierz, the ancient Jewish quarter, one of the most significant places in Krakow. Kazimierz still preserves its cobbled streets, the crumbling buildings dating back to before the Second World War and a decadent air that leaves you impressed. But above all, there are testimonies of its past linked to the Jewish community and many splendid Synagogues. Its most important streets, Szeroka Street and Jozefa Street, truly beautiful and unmissable. Today Kazimierz is also the scene of a very lively nightlife, with its very typical cafes and restaurants scattered along its area. Then we will cross the river and move to Podgorze, the old Jewish ghetto of Krakow, a place of great emotion and full of testimonies of that dramatic historical period. The installation of Bohaterow Getta Square is very significant, where 70 empty chairs have been placed to remember those who had to abandon their homes to be taken to the Ghetto. The Pharmacy under the Eagle, now a Museum, was the only one left inside the ghetto and the owner, at his own risk, tried as he could to help the Jews avoid deportation, providing them with medicines. Here in Podgorze you can find several fragments of the Ghetto wall. Stopping for a few minutes is certainly a must. In these two neighborhoods several scenes of the famous Spielberg film Schindler's List were filmed and you can find some locations by watching the video. I always love finding places where important films were filmed. I am a lover of cinema! At the end of the video you will be able to admire other splendid Churches of which Krakow is truly very rich, such as the Basilica of Corpus Christi, a Catholic Church within the district of Kazimierz. A gem.. And then the Church of St. Catherine and the Church on the Rock, which are located slightly off the beaten track, but very close to the center and which are absolutely worth a visit. Friends, I thank you as always for being here and for supporting me with your appreciation and the friendship that you show me. You have no idea how much pleasure they give me and what an incentive they are for me to continue this journey together. I hope that this video can be useful to you and that it will encourage you to leave and visit this Have a great time and...enjoy! Renata
