Zing!! That's a technical term ;) In this clip from the Movement Template course I start off talking about the postural and energetic cost of head forward posture. A basic rule of thumb is that for every inch off the central axis that the head hangs forward it adds another 10 pounds to the load on the cervical spine (neck) and upper back. That makes the head very heavy - and tiring to carry around. It can literally be exhausting for the muscles that are working to restrain it! It's weird that we don't naturally tap into all the fascial support we have for upright posture, but I think it's just a result of our low movement lifestyle, AND, the habits we all fall into and unconsciously reinforce. I think we need more ZING!!!!! Yeah. The "zing" we get from tapping into the fascial lines that support the body from foot to crown. The "zing" that makes us walk tall and proud and strong!! Its that "zing" that keeps me standing at my computer day after day, testing my endurance, testing my resolve to get this course created.
