Butch Thompson presents Snoose Boulevard at the Cedar Cultural Center. During the early 1900s, the West Bank and Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis, were known as "Snoose Boulevard," the center of Swedish-American culture in the city. The term was revived during the '70s by the fondly remembered "Snoose Boulevard Festival' and its creator, folklorist and musician Maury Bernstein. The sweetness and buoyant rhythm of New Orleans music took hold of Butch Thompson's life at an early age and hasn't let go. His roots are deep, and he has traveled widely. A lifelong Minnesotan, he is also a former West Bank resident and was on the faculty of the West Bank School of Music for most of the 1970s.
