In this exercise, you’ll hear a short musical phrase played on the dulcimer. Your job is to listen carefully, hold the sound in your mind, and then play it back. This simple process builds an essential skill called audiation—the ability to hear and understand music internally before you play it. Call and response practice helps train the brain to connect what you hear with the motor movements needed to reproduce it on your instrument. Over time, this strengthens the neural pathways that allow musicians to quickly recognize patterns, anticipate notes, and play tunes without relying on tab or written notation. Don’t worry about getting everything perfect. The goal is to listen deeply, remember the sound, and try again. Each repetition helps map sound to motion a little more clearly. Grab your dulcimer, listen closely, and play it back! 🎶 #Dulcimer #PlayByEar #MountainDulcimer #DulcimerChallenge #AppalachianMusic
