US Road Trip 2019 - Day 14, Kansas City MO to Aviston IL (via St Louis, MO)

Monday 6 May 2019 Day 14 of my 2019 coast-to-coast (and back again) US road trip. This video sees me head east from Kansas City, Missouri to Aviston, Illinois. On the way I visit St Louis - the Gateway Arch, Pappy's Smokehouse (ribs for lunch), the Cathedral Basilica and Soulard. I then drive north of St Louis to Alton, Illinois, where some Soulard locals told me I would see bald eagles. However, on arriving there I find that the eagles are only there in January and February (and the town is half flooded). From Alton I drive south-east to the small country town of Aviston, Illinois where I spend the night at the Eagle Inn. MY COAST TO COAST US ROAD TRIP Starting on the Pacific coast in Los Angeles in late-April 2019, I drove cross-country to Charleston South Carolina on the Atlantic coast, before looping south and heading right back again. I covered over 8,000 miles (12,000 kilometres) in four weeks. The first half of the trip was with my 21-year-old-son Josh, who flew home after two weeks from Kansas City, Missouri. The second half I was travelling solo.
