About the lecture: For more than 50 years, the landscape has been at the center of my professional life. From my early days in the design/build business, to my later career in downtown revitalization and teaching, the past 50 years have enriched my life immeasurably, and taught me an array of valuable lessons. These lessons are at the heart of my presentation, with the hope of inspiring students as they dream and shape their future. Speaker bio: David Evans was born in Ohio in 1950. He holds a Master of Landscape Design from the Conway School, and a Master of Urban Design from UC Berkeley. Since 2012, David has shared the lessons of a 40-year career in landscape architecture and urban design with LAEP students. He teaches foundational graphics and design studios and is a proponent of digital drawing in his teaching and professional work. His professional history includes the founding of a landscape design/build practice in Ohio, the vice-presidency of a development planning firm in New Hampshire, and the establishment of a landscape architecture and urban design practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. During his 25-years in the Bay Area, David’s work focused on urban revitalization, and the design and construction of streets, plazas, parks, and public open space. In addition to teaching, David is a Senior Planner and Landscape Architect with the Arete’ Collective in Salt Lake City.
