1920s whimsy from saxophone virtuoso Rudy Wiedoeft playing his own laughing sax composition with George Olsen and his Music (including trumpeter Red Nichols). This is the lesser known of two of Wiedoeft's recordings of this piece, the other being an early electrical recording on the Columbia label with Oscar Levant accompanying him on a piano. This record came from the collection of the late Frank Puls, whom, I believe, used it to empty his domicile of unwanted visitors late at night. Or he used it at parties when a boy and girl looked like they were pashing a bit too enthusiastically. Wasn't it Cary Grant who spoiled the sexual advances of a rival for the leading lady's affections in an adjacent train carriage by practising this composition? "Nobody here to speak of - just me and my saxophone!" This is another pre-electric recording with its frequency response deficiencies corrected by measurement of the replayed audio with a spectral analysis 'waterfall' graph.
