Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hopkins endurance four-way flat trailer wiring harness that's 30 feet long, part number HM48265.If you're looking to rewire your trailer because of maintenance, the wires may be getting old, or if you're building a trailer and need to wire it up, our Hopkins endurance four-pole flat wiring harness is gonna be a good choice. It is gonna provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector, making it easy to hook up to our towing vehicle. It's gonna have a wishbone Y design, which means that we're gonna have our left brake and turn signal along with our taillight signal as separate from our right brake and turn signal and another taillight signal, so we're not gonna have to worry about jumping across the trailer. It's gonna be extremely easy to hook up. You just run one side, run to the other side, and we have all our light functions going to each side. The ground wire is gonna be 36 inches long, so we're gonna have plenty of room to find a nice grounding point towards the front of our trailer. The total length of the harness is gonna be 30 feet, which will be more than enough for this small boat trailer. Whenever we're looking to install a small wiring harness, the wishbone style is gonna make it a lot easier to get it installed because we are gonna have that two separate taillight circuits for each side. When comparing the Hopkins to others, like the Optronics wishbone style, our Hopkins is gonna have just a slightly thicker gage wire. It's gonna have an 18 gage wire, opposed to the 20-gage wire that is very common on other trailer wirings. So now that we've got our wiring on and gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation, I do wanna mention our trailer doesn't have any lights on it right now and the wiring has already been cut. So we're gonna go ahead and start running our wire, and then we're gonna replace all of our lights. To start out, we're gonna take the end of our yellow and brown wire and the green and brown wire and we're gonna attach it to the existing wire that's already on there. If you don't have existing wiring in your frame or if the wire breaks off inside or any of those combination of things where it's just not an option to take the new wiring to the old, you can take a piece of airline tube or a coat hanger, whatever you have that's gonna keep its shape, that's gonna be at least as long as the trailer itself. You're gonna feed your pole wire into the inside of the frame, attach your wire to the other end, and then pull it through. You just take the two ends of our yellow and brown wires, the old and the new, and we're gonna tape them together. We can do the same thing for the green and brown wires. Since we're working on a boat trailer, it's gonna be a lot easier to attach the two wires to each other and pull them through rather than try and feed them into the frame. So we can move to the back of the trailer, where our taillight and turn signal wires are coming out, and we're gonna start pulling our wire until we have the new wire coming with it.Once we have this side down, we're gonna go ahead and move to the other side and pull our other wire through. On the other end, where our four-pole's coming out, we're gonna have a white wire coming out and we're gonna attach it to a ground. So we're gonna strip back the end of the wire and we're gonna crimp a ring terminal in place. Now this isn't included in the kit, but you can pick some up on etrailer.com. Then we're gonna be placing our ground right here, right next to where our wires are going in, so we'll take a self-tapping screw and screw it right into the frame of the trailer. Now after you attach your grounds, you wanna make sure that you have enough wire that it's gonna extend past the coupler so you can hook it up to the vehicle it's gonna be towing. You might be wondering what these other wires are here hanging out of the tongue. Well, if we come back a little bit, we got a couple marker lights that are in place already, and these wires are for those. So we're gonna take our two brown wires and we're gonna splice into the brown wire for our running lights, and then we're gonna make a separate ground connection point right here. The way we're gonna make our connections for the running lights on the tongue there is we're gonna separate our tongue and brake signal wire from our running light wire so we'll have a brown and a green separate.
