There are 3 Mindfulness “how” skills. That is, how do we do mindfulness? They are: Nonjudgmentally, One-Mindfully and Effectively. In this video, we discuss the skill "Nonjudgmentally". When we are being nonjudgmental, we see things, but we don’t evaluate them as good or bad, we simply see the facts. We do acknowledge the difference between the helpful and the harmful, the safe and dangerous but we don’t judge them. Judgments that we evaluate as good or bad are in the mind of the observer. We are judgmental when we add an evaluation of worth or value to what we have observed. “Good” and “bad” are never observed. “Good” and ‘’bad” are all in the eyes of the observer. Judgements can have damaging effects on relationships. They create conflict. No one likes being harshly judged. Judgments also have a strong effect on our emotional responses. When we judge we become dysregulated much more easily. In this video, we go into detail on how to practice Non-Judgmentally. At The Counseling Center Group® we use a variety of techniques to help improve the quality of life for individuals, couples, groups, and families. We work with children, adolescents, and adults.
