Sermon Title: What’s Love Got to Do With It? Today’s message asked why it’s so hard for us to understand God’s love. In John 3:16, we’re reminded that God so loved the world that He gave His Son. Yet we often struggle to accept that kind of love because we’re familiar with love that can be withdrawn — and sometimes we quietly wonder how God could love us at all, knowing our past and our mistakes. The truth is, God loves us in spite of us. In 1 John 4:7–12, 19–21, we’re reminded that love starts with God, not with us getting it right. He loved us first. That love is meant to show up in our daily lives, in how we treat and forgive others. We can’t claim to love God while refusing to love people. God’s love is unconditional — no strings, no required performance. As Romans 5:8 says, Christ died for us while we were still sinners. That’s what love has to do with it — everything.
