How to Make SEM Imaged Polymer Fibers in Blender 2.8

In this video I show how you can simulate polymer fibers examined using scanning electron microscopy. This approach gives a simple model that can be easily adjusted to different fiber densities, overlap, shapes, and can even show off charging effects that often show up in SEM images. By using the basic setup here with different colours you could also use this tutorial to make simple fiber mesh effects or overlays. Note: I have been informed that this tutorial doesn't seem to work with Blender version 3.0 at this time. It does appear to still be functional in Blender 2.9 and previous versions. When I ultimately update this for 3.0 with geometry nodes I will post a link here.
