If you do not understand something, I would ask and ask again until you understand what you are investing in. 2) Selecting the wrong type of Annuity. There are various types of annuities and available riders for your contract. Some of the common annuity riders are Guaranteed Withdrawal Benefits, Lifetime Income Benefits, Death Benefit Rider, Long Term Care Rider to name a few. 3) Naming a beneficiary, make sure you have a beneficiary on file. Or, make sure you have the correct person on file. Especially, if the person listed in no longer alive or if you are no longer together. 4) Choosing the Right Insurance Provider. I would look for a strong provider with a high rating. 5) Know how much you are paying in fees. What are M&E (referred to as the mortality and expense) fees, administrative fees, optional rider fees and surrender fees? Also, are there investment management fees? What is the total cost? Annuities are not a one size fits all solution. You need to understand what it is, its purpose and how does this investment fit into your overall financial plan or not. https://savvyup.com | 760-692-5700 #savvyup
