"We are the hammer!" - The battle-cry of the Grey Knights. This gameplay video is just a combination of mods to create an action heavy FPS set in the W40K universe, I hope you enjoy the result and possibly try these mods yourself. This made for a difficult challenge; I've only made it to the room requiring the yellow keycard off the main starting room, the best of luck if you try! Here's the premise; A lone Grey Knight stands against the hordes of Khorne followers and Daemons, advancing into their cursed realm to eliminate the presence of all Chaos forces. Although Khorne, the Lord of Rage, possesses exceptional warriors as his followers and will make this a tenacious challenge. For context, within the Warhammer 40K universe, the Grey Knights are a Space Marine chapter specialized in combating Chaos and Daemons. Each Knight is notable for being a powerful psyker, possessing the ability to effectively yield psychic powers, and access to exceptional, high quality, equipment to defeat Chaos forces. The core gameplay mod is "Warhammer 40k Astartes" providing a default Grey Knight class with a unique weapon set, sprites, FX effects and sounds, though the latter effects are shared amongst all provided classes. It also includes the dedicated Khorne enemy set, fitting the aesthetic and combat style of the faction; melee based berserkers, for some units at least, there is variety in the set. The infighting actually makes it lore accurate to the series. The map, "Bastion of Chaos", a GZDoom exclusive, is a singular large slaughter map, meaning there are plentiful enemies to fight (Over 4000), large open arenas and provides a welcome challenge to FPS fans. I opted for the low spec version and the necessary removal of lights.pk3 for better running, probably the best options with the number of mods attached. For effects, the Astartes mod provides the increased blood effects and the chosen map lends itself greatly to the aesthetic of a W40K Chaos setting. Though there is "LiveReverb" changing sound pitch to reflect the size of the given room the player is in and the "Warhammer 40k Space Marine Taunt" for taunts, with voicelines from "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War" a 2004 RTS title. To note, the addition of atmospheric mods would create some lag so whilst an option, trying to create a custom realm of Chaos warp effect to some degree, it would require a decent system to successfully run effectively. The map choice is known to demand a modest system for the low spec version and a powerful one for the full edition. An attempt to create an accurate HUD to the Warhammer 40K series involved inclusion of common design features found in the serie's games; white or golden coloring, navigation and indicators. The "FlexiHUD" v3.0.0 mod allowed such customizable options to create a such a HUD, in theory at least. This gameplay shows my best effort to provide a suitable HUD display. The inclusion of "Target Spy" v2.0.1, proved the inclusion of a customizable enemy health bar, a choice inspired by "Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun" For movement, the "SimpleDash-Jump" mod gave the ablility to dash and double jump, which were invaluable maneuvering options against enemy hordes. Additionally, "Motion Blur" v1.04 was included to provide the effect of fast movement to bring more immersion to gameplay. These mods worked well together, in my opinion, provided the settings are set low to not obstruct complete visibility. There were to be additional mods added for visual and camera effects though the mod combo proved nonfunctional to these additions. These removed mods being "NashGore Next" v1.0, "Universal Weapon Sway" and "TiltPlusPlus" v1.6.5, these being for increased blood/gibs effects and camera effects respectively. Although, after searching through the mod's options, I found that Astartes includes mods for tilt, sway and "Nash's: Vengeance Edition" v1.01 so credit to the effort involved in the design of the Astartes mod. As always, constructive feedback is appreciated so please feel free to comment. List of mods; Warhammer 40k Astartes; Uploader - nekostuffing Link to mod - https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic...
