KILIFI COUNTY VOODOOSIM! Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, dear countrymen who at our times ought to be interested at the quality than the quantity of our dreams and goals. I'm writing this in my capacity as the chairperson of the Kilifi County College and University students association KICCUSA. I woke up this morning not like yesterday and yet like yesterday but one. I choose to call a spade by its name and not a garden tool. I am one person who is interested in the future of ourselves and our generations in waiting and any attempt to inconvenience the clarity of this is treated as witchcraft/voodoo that ought to be exposed and condemned nonchalantly and sagaciously. We are demonstrating against such vices as: 1. Some score months ago residents of Kilifi County were surprised by three nominated MCAs to serve in the County Assembly of Kilifi. These are: a. Lilian Atakha- Kakamega b. Scolastica Adit Oduor- Kisumu c. Philister Auma- Kisumu. Brothers and sisters, I rise to agree that Kilifi is a cosmopolitan, one thing that just can't add up is that if it was an obligation to have some members from these communities, we have them who were born and have been living in Kilifi, some who can't miss a word of contribution in dispensation of legislative responsibility. Why and how do you expect an imported MCA in the word of ODM nomination to make laws that will serve the interest of for example Fikirini Jacobs, born and brought up in Dzarigutah Kharinen? The interest of Emmanuel Bahati Ngala, Price John, from deep Langobaya and Muryachpkwe etc...? How? 2. The most astounding concern today is that the objectives and principles of devolved government as captured by part one of CAP 11 is that A county government should have 11 accounting/Chief Officers, what's so that it's intended to be 19 in Kilifi? Why? All extra 8 (without portfolio) looking the coffers destinies to uplift the life of a Kilifian. If money ain't a problem, surprise us with scholarships, projects completion etc. It's unacceptable and therefore shall oppose it mornings, afternoon and evening! 3. On the nomination of Mr.Alio Ibrahim Aden, to be a Chief officer of Public health awaiting vetting we rise to oppose it equally! Mr Alio served as a CEC-M in Marsabit County and was suspended on unclear circumstances. Today he is to be a Chief officer in Kilifi. My concern here is: Somali is a minority group already represented by Chief Adam Mohamed in the capacity of Chief officer Devolution and Disaster Management and Public Service. We have Jibanas, Wathas, Kambes and some sub counties not represented, why import a senior officer. Unacceptable! Kilifi is and shall be for Kilifians! What's the inspiration to our young graduates when we have to abscond them and embrace people from outside counties to serve the same graduates and their parents? Do we motivate the students this way as a county? Hey you people, show me: 1. A Kilifian nominated MCA in Kisumu County Assembly. 2. A Kilifian Chief officer in Marsabit County. 3. A Kilifian CEC M in Embu county. 4. A Kilifian casual worker in Nyamira. 5. A Kilifian who survived any corruption claims in any County under the sun and was reappointed for a senior post! Show me!!!!!!!! To my brother the Governor, I hope you remember me so very well. I know people carelessly say and seem you agree that this being your last term, you have nothing to loose, but allow me to say this bro that having nothing to loose AND everything to loose are two sides of the same coin, the probability of having either is 50%. You're shuddering your legacy! As I round up, I wish to pose this appeal to each and everyone us here and beyond that let's join our hand, hearts and minds in reactivating the dreams of our land, the passion for our future and lives of our parents and brothers and sisters of Kilifi. Kilifi is for us all, it ought to be respected. I have no jot of doubt whatsoever that it's a matter of time #tutafikapale!! Fikirini Jacobs Chairperson- KICCUSA
