Journalist Wali Khan Babar’s killer arrested KARACHI: The killer of Geo News journalist Wali Khan Babar was arrested on Monday, sources confirmed to the TV channel. Babar was gunned down in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on January 13, 2011, when he was returning home from the office. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, "Babar was shot shortly after his story on gang violence aired on the country's most widely watched broadcaster, Geo TV." Kamran alias Zeeshan Shani was arrested during a joint operation, sources said, adding that Shani had opened fire on Babar. A special court had announced a death sentence for him in March 2014 in absentia and declared him as an absconder in the murder case. Faisal Mota, another accused in the case, was later arrested during a raid at the then MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero, in March 2015.
