Glazed Donuts Recipe Donuts 3 cups of warm milk 3/4 cups of warm water 4 packets of edmonds yeast (2.4-2.5 teaspoons of bottled yeast = 1 packet of Edmonds yeast) 6-8 cups of flour 1/2 cups of vegetable oil 4 eggs 1 cup of sugar (or 2 cups if making plain donuts with no glaze) 4 Litres of oil (for frying) Glaze 4 cups of icing sugar Hot water Vanilla essence 50 grams of butter 1. In a small bowl, mix yeast and warm water with 2 tablespoons of sugar, and then put aside to rise (it will take about 15-20 minutes) 2. Heat saucepan with milk, then put aside. 3. In a bowl, add sugar, warm milk & the risen yeast, eggs and oil. 4. Add flour to the mix, 2 cups at a time, until dough has come together. 5. Put dough in a greased bowl & cover with towel, leaving it to double in size. 6. Once dough has doubled in size, roll out like a pizza base, but thicker (see video for a closer look) 7. Use cookie cutter (or a cup) to cut circles & donut holes in the middle. Leave to rise for 10-15 mins. 8. In your frypan, heat 4L oil & then add donuts. Fry 1 min on each side, then take them out and leave to cool. Glaze 1. In a bowl, mix icing sugar, butter, vanilla essence & hot water together until you get a syrupy consistency 2. Dip donuts on one side, & leave to cool on rack until glaze has crystallised. Enjoy!
