Akeen is a 25-year-old Montrealer. Working as an engineer by day and creating yarn art in his spare time. His goal has always been to create in ways that are unique and challenging. Creating has always been his passion, but when he lost interest in drawing and painting, he wanted his artwork to be more unique. Something nobody was doing. Feeling inspired by the colourful yarn at the dollar store, he began experimenting by hot glueing strands of yarn, of different colour and size, onto the canvas. As he looked back on the strange, yarn rendition of Van Goghs "Starry Night", he knew he had something different, that could combine ingenuity and creativity into something that brings smiles to peoples faces. Akeen is our 44th guest on Vision of Representation. "Vision of Representation" is a documentary series by student filmmaker, Stephanie Hubert. She has created this platform in order to tell people's stories. She believes that sharing stories helps others understand and become more informed, which allows for growth and less judgment.
