Imagination: Human mind viewed from the study of chimpanzees: Tetsuro Matsuzawa 想像するちから: チンパンジーが教えてくれた人間の心: 松沢哲郎 Prof. Matsuzawa is a professor at the Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University and president of the International Primatological Society. He entered Kyoto University as a philosophy major and enthusiastic mountain climber. After graduate school, Prof. Matsuzawa became an assistant professor at the Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University. In 1978, he started the "Ai-Project", in which he taught language-like skills to chimpanzees. He continues to be active in primatology research, a field in which he is known to be a pioneer. He recently started the ʺGreen Corridor Projectʺ, which aims to protect wild chimpanzees and their habitat in Africa. 京都大学霊長類研究所教授。国際霊長類学会長。学生運動の時代に京都大学に入学し、哲学科へ。実験心理学を学ぶ一方、京大山岳部に所属し、登山に明け暮れる。大学院に進学の後、京都大学霊長類研究所に助手として着任、霊長類学に出会う。1978年春よりチンパンジーに言葉を教える「アイ・プロジェクト」を開始し、注目を集めた。現在は、霊長類学の第一人者として研究を続けると同時に、野生のチンパンジーの保全を目指す「緑の回廊」プロジェクトをアフリカで推進するなど、チンパンジーにとっての豊かな環境づくりに努めている。 About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
