News: (Adam Safran) The Royal Navy crows for a near full retreat of the Kaiserliche Marine from the North Sea and the cessation of interference with the Royal Navy. The full opening of convoy lines to England should allow further industrial build up. While heavy losses have been taken, the French and English navies still maintain parity with the German fleet and can have their entire forces concentrated in the Atlantic. The Germans claim that the withdrawl of their navy to port is simply for repairs and resupply and when they are finished they will have control of the English channel. Only time will tell. On land, things are going badly for the Entente as any reasonable observer can tell. Along all fronts the Germans are advancing. The Western Front seems to have no strategic reserves, holes starting to open in the defensive line as the Entente seem to be unable to maintain a united front, even with the Italians, British, and French armies all maintaining forces. The Austro-Hungarian navy is bottled in the MEd, and the Italians and Austrians seem content to stare at one another through heavy entrenchments. The cold is the greater enemy than the opposing army. Avalanches, wolves, and misery abound as soldiers from both sides huddle for warmth in revetments as frostbite strikes all. The Russian front is staggering under repeated blows as the Germans maintain a solid advance and the Tsarist army seems capable of putting up only a token fight and Romania seems to be nearly fully overrun. Access to Romanian grain reserves should help the Central powers even with the partial blockade. Brighter news for morale for the Russians is a daring cavalry raid behind the lines of the Central Powers taking several towns with no German forces in sight, even if more than an irritant than a threat. The Ottomans seem on the verge of near collapse along the Caucuses, weakened troops under months of artillery bombardment with morale about to break, and no reserves to throw into the gap, and allied forces months away from helping. Baghdad is threatened with being surrounded by ANZACS that outnumber the garrison more than 4:1 with further Ottoman forces having disintegrated due to supply. The British are dealing with minor threats behind the lines in North Africa and then have several more corps that can be thrown at Ottoman forces holding the Suez Canal which the British say can contain the invasion and throw it back to Jerusalem. An attack by British Marines is still only barely held, which is pinning down Ottoman reserves. With two fronts under threat of collapse, no forces to throw in, and morale plummeting in the Causcus, it seems only so long before the Asian side of Turkey threatens to shatter under invasion. Whether the Ottomans can hold their state in the war if this happens is up for debate. But it seems inevitable. The War to end all wars is here. All these questions and many more are yours to answer. France, Italy, Russia, Serbia, the UK and the USA will be facing off against Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire in our flagship campaign.
