While we aren't saying goodbye to our massive 46-foot Toy Hauler, we are exploring the possibility of adding a truck camper to our off-grid life. Our amazing friends offered us a "try before you buy" gift we couldn't pass up: a week in their beautiful Lance 1172 truck camper. It’s luxury on wheels, but as you’ll see, size doesn't always make things easier. Within the first 5 miles, I managed to find a tree and say goodbye to the TV antenna! 🤦‍♂️ THE CHALLENGE: LIFE WITHOUT SOLAR 🔋🚫 One thing we realized quickly: this rig has zero solar power. After living with our massive off-grid solar array, we are really feeling the lack of power. If this camper is going to be part of the long-term dream, a complete solar power makeover is going to be the very first thing on the list! In this episode, we’re testing everything: Boondocking in the rugged Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Realizing just how much we miss our massive off-grid power supply. The learning curve of maneuvering a truck camper vs. a massive trailer. Cooking, sleeping, and living in a smaller footprint at the mouth of the Grand Canyon.
