Ep 103 BEDBUGS on the Camino | Camino del Norte/Frances | Hiking Camino de Santiago

Times got tough on our Camino journey (September 2023) - first we took a bus to Bilboa to bail our weary selves out of the Camino Norte. We had a quick look around then spent a night in a weird capsule hotel there. The next day we went south to Pamplona, determined to reset and set off fresh on the Camino Frances. Our first obstacle made itself known in the morning - bed bug bites. Who knows which accommodation had hosted them - anywhere we'd stayed in the previous three days was a possible culprit. We did contact them all to let them know. None admitted it! Treating our gear was the first order of the day. At a laundromat, we spun everything through dryers set to hot heat. If you are going to do this, remember that it all goes in DRY for best effect. If it's dirty, you can wash it later. Optimistically, we set off early the next day, but Kath was coming down with a cold, and her many, many, many bedbug bites were itching and inflamed. About 5 km out of town, we hit an impasse and a rare, horrid argument ensued. Finally, we booked a nearby hotel where we ended up staying for two restful, restorative nights. Determined, still, to persist and keen to reunite with our darling Alex, we jumped on a bus to Logroño where we three hit the tapas bars and planned to walk once more. Stay tuned!
