You can use the body to move in and out of your body responses to threat. So when you continue to work with control over the body through small and large movements, you are creating a sense of empowerment. One of the ideas is you create confidence in your own body, to be able to enter and exit a situation emotionally. When you are using these movements, you also increase testosterone in the body, which is a confidence boosting chemical. So an activity to do if you find your whole body tense, is shaking it out. The idea with this activity is you start to shake the body, to release the tension. By shaking out the tension in the body, you are also resetting the nervous system to be able to re engage. Now this can be a quick shake, it can be located in your top area or it can be throughout your whole body. Again, the idea is that reset, allowing the body to have control over the movement, and to be able to work out any tension or anxiety that you might be feeling. All in all, this activity helps create the ability to move out of a tense mood state, a hyper mood state, or lower mood state.
