This is part one of three in my mini-series of preparing Goose feathers as fletchings to put on wooden arrow shafts. In this video, titled Goose Feathers For Wooden Arrows - How to tell Left or Right - Part 1, I show you how to tell which side of the bird's wing the feathers came from, either left or right. It is a simple process which won't take long at all. I also briefly talk on other aspects of Goose feathers for example why use them, colour, size, which are the best to use etc, and a couple of other little tips.. I decided to make this series into three parts as a continuation of my arrow making series becauseI believe it would be easier for you to find specific answers to your questions, of which I've also encountered on my journey through the wooden arrow making process. Goose feathers seem to be in a class of their own and they have been used for centuries particularly for Medieval Arrows. I will be uploading short videos in the future with extra tips and knowledge regarding these beautiful feathers. Fletching woooden arrows for my English Longbow is a skill I have found to be very relaxing and rewarding. I can choose what size, shape, type of feather I use and once I got the hang of it, doesn't take me long to do.
