And honestly, that tells you everything you need to know. This is a micro cuvée Grenache made by one of the most exciting Rhône focused winemakers working in the US right now. Only 3,700 bottles produced. Roughly 300 cases for the entire world. And we somehow got ten. This wine comes from limestone rich clay soils planted to 80 plus year old Grenache vines. No pebbles. No sand. Just old vines and serious terroir. It is fermented with whole clusters, native yeast, and raised in concrete, but it is not stemmy or rustic. It is refined, precise, and shockingly elegant. The first thing you notice is restraint. This is not an inky, overworked Grenache. The color is more Pinot like, but the depth is unmistakable. Rocks, crushed stone, and mineral drive lead into layers of cherry fruit that feel polished and vertical rather than loud or jammy. Old vines do the heavy lifting here. The wine has weight and intensity without being forced. The tannins are silky. The finish is lifted and almost weightless. It has that rare combination of richness and lightness that defines truly great Grenache. This is part of a series of terroir focused micro cuvées where the winemaker is isolating specific vineyard parcels to understand what each site can do on its own. This one stands out immediately.
