George Bizet - Symphony in C, Third Movement - Original MIDI Performance

Hello again, Classical MIDI fans! We continue in our "Symphonic Journey" with the fun and exciting third movement of George Bizet's Symphony in C! In what is a pattern throughout the entire work, the Bizet pays very close homage to his teacher at the Paris Conservatoire Charles Gounod, this time more structurally, rather than tone or tune. Bizet's Minuet is far more rustic than his inspiration, with the Trio in particular having a very peasant-like character. Bernstein's own score notes have "PEASANTE" in bold, colorful letters at the top of the extended middle section, though it's clear that's the intention with the Celli and Violas aggressively hitting open string fifths an octave apart. It gives it almost a reel or hornpipe feel with the pedal tone supporting a melody that rolls through in fast syncopated rhythms. On the technical side, I made some minor adjustments to the woodwind balance - not only between each other, but against the rest of the orchestra as a whole. In earlier videos, subsequent listenings made it clear I had them far too prominent in the mix, but in working through this piece I felt like I'd over-corrected a bit, with the exceptions of the Flutes. The Clarinets in particulars were getting lost, so that led to me spending a good amount of time finding something better. I kept it very gentle, but I feel that there's definite improvement in the end result. Let me know what you think - do you agree, or do I need to make more significant adjustments?
