This video is for fans of the late great fiddler Orville Burns as well as for those who have never heard of him. Lifelong musician friends Matthew Hartz and Scott Sumner became enamored with Orville's fiddling in their youth and their passion for it has remained with them to this day. When Scott dropped by Matthew's for an impromptu visit one afternoon, it led to an unplanned video shoot, that captured this conversation where the boys shared their deep love of, and infectious enthusiasm for, one of the most innovative and influential old time fiddle legends to ever pull bow. For those looking to delve further into Orville's music, there are a couple of great places to start. One is an album entitled "Texas-Style Old Time Fiddling" that Matthew and Orville recorded together in 1988. Contact Matthew at www.matthewhartz.com. And Dan Stewart's "Texas Fiddle Archive" is an excellent resource for free downloads of vintage jam session recordings of Orville, as well as other old time fiddle/Texas style fiddle luminaries such as Benny Thomasson, Terry Morris, Major Franklin, and others.
