On March 31, 2024, Montville Township Police Officer Harvey stopped a vehicle for numerous traffic violations. The vehicle was being driven by a 19-year-woman and her 19-year-old boyfriend was sitting in the passenger seat. Officer Harvey claims he detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she submitted to a portable breath test (PBT) and the result was more than 0.17% BAC. She was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). Officer Harvey then drew his attention to the boyfriend, who initially did not want to identify himself. The boyfriend also submitted to a PBT, but his result was 0.00% BAC (this portion was edited out of the video for time). The driver was taken to the Montville Township police station and the boyfriend drove to the police station to wait for his girlfriend to be released. The woman submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.162% BAC. She was given citations for an extensive list of violations, which are discussed at the end of the video.
