The majority of RC car bodies are made of lexan. Its toughness and light weight make it ideal for racers, bashers and crawlers. Among its disadvantages is the fact that it's very difficult to glue and so lexan bodies are hard to modify. ABS, on the other hand, is very easy to glue. While it is a lot more rigid than lexan, it's still spectacularly tough stuff. On the downside, it's heavier than its wobbly counterpart. The advantage this video's intended to highlight, however, is the way styrene lends itself to the cost-effective manufacture of eminently modifiable vacuum-formed bodies. British firm Kamtec makes inexpensive scale model bodies in a variety of scales. All you need to create your own unique body is a couple of ABS bodies, a Dremel, and some PVC/ABS pipe glue from a plumber's factor.. Whether you shorten a car to make a truck cab,, or lengthen a body to fit a desired chassis, it's cheap to give it a try.. Why not?
