Our live cover of "Gusty Garden Galaxy/Wind Garden" from Super Mario Galaxy, originally composed by Mahito Yokota. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley. Recorded live at Black Cat LES in New York City on March 1, 2020. We're very happy that our initial foray into the Super Mario Galaxy musical universe is the beautiful "Gusty Garden Galaxy", known as "Wind Garden" in Japan. I (Pat) admittedly never got to play this game, because I didn't own a Wii (I know, comments incoming), but we knew just how much this music meant to the Mario and VGM community in general, so we had to do some music from it. The biggest challenge with making this arrangement was somehow reducing an entire lush orchestral sound to just six instruments, but the easiest and most satisfying part was being able to witness the magic of these guys putting everything they've got into it! We hope you enjoy this take on an already gorgeous composition; and if this game is nostalgic for you, we hope you can relive some of those moments here as well.
