ILP debate disrupts question hour, Assembly adjourned briefly

Ruckus in the State Assembly on the Inner Line Permit Issue (ILP) lead to the adjournment of the house for tem minutes. The ILP issue dominated the question hour with the Leader of the Opposition Mukul Sangma firing salvos at the ruling. Sangma questioned the State Government if they had given up the idea of pursuing with the centre to implement ILP in the State following its recent announcement of examining the feasibility of incorporating Inner Line Permit (ILP)-like provisions within the framework of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. He asked teh reply in yes or no. Chief Minister Conard K Sangma who was replying seemed visibly annoyed and said the Leader of the Opposition cannot interrupt in the course of his reply and he cannot be told to reply jn yes or no as his reply is for the better understanding of the house. This heated the environment. Soon VPP Chief Ardent M Basaiawmoit joined in ended his concerns with a question if the government was playing with the sentiment of the people. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma reminded that he has written and met the Home Minister multiple times and shouted if the opposition or Ardent has done the same no sooner had he said this everything broke loose. Ardent was heard shouting from one end, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister from the other end. Their voices overlapped each other and teh AssmeblySpeaker Thomas A Sangam stood up and tried to calm them down and this continued he adjourned the house for ten minutes.
