A performance by the Turk Murphy Jazz Band at Earthquake McGoon's San Francisco - on June 13th 1971 as part of the second Clancy Hayes Day fundraiser. Turk Murphy, Leader, tbn; Leon Oakley, cnt; Phil Howe, cl; Bob Helm, cl; Pete Clute, p; Dick Speer, bj; Vernon Alley, b; Jim Maihack, tu; (drummer detailed in 'Just For The Record' as Dave ?). The video includes images of some of Turk Murphy's many recordings. Also included are images of the newly released biography and discography: Clancy Hayes - The Swinging Minstrel. Clancy was intermission entertainer at Earthquake McGoon's from 1962-1970 when his career was cut short by illness. This recording is from a second fundraiser at which life-long jazz musician, bandleader and writer Hal Smith performed with the Fink Street Five. Hal has written two superb chapters for the book, contributed numerous photos and also provided invaluable information to the vocal discography of private and commercial recordings. Other contributors to the book include two other life-long musicians and bandleaders John Gill and Spats Langham. Melissa Phillippe and Julia Carroll - both members of Clancy's family have also made major contributions. The book is available in hardback and softback through Amazon. Enjoy. Pace to all.
