Rearrangement reactions are a type of chemical reaction in which the structure of a molecule undergoes a transformation, resulting in a change in the connectivity of atoms or the functional groups. These reactions play a crucial role in organic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis and transformation of complex molecules. Rearrangement reactions are important not only in synthetic chemistry but also in biological systems, where they are involved in various metabolic pathways. Rearrangements can be classified based on the nature of the transformation, such as: Cationic Rearrangement: In these reactions, a positively charged intermediate (carbocation) rearranges to form a more stable carbocation. The most famous example of this type is the Claisen rearrangement. Anionic Rearrangement: Involves a negatively charged intermediate (carbanion) that rearranges to form a more stable species. Radical Rearrangement: Involves radicals as intermediates, which rearrange to form more stable radical species. A well-known example of this is the benzyl radical rearrangement. Sigmatropic Rearrangement: These involve the shift of a sigma bond along with the movement of electrons in a concerted mechanism, such as in the Cope rearrangement and Mannich rearrangement. Group Transfer Rearrangement: Here, a group (such as a methyl or ethyl group) is transferred from one atom to another in a molecule, resulting in a new configuration. #bscchemistry #chemistry #science #bscbotany #physics #chemistry #physics #science #bscchemistry #lsi #chemistry #bscchemistry #physics #bscchemistry #chemistry #alkanes and cycloalkanes bsc 1st year #chemistry in hindi #alkanes #cycloalkanes #bsc 1st year organic chemistry #alkanes and cycloalkanes, #bsc 1st year chemistry, #bsc chemistry Join this channel to get access to perks: / @letsstudyindia ======================================== Thank-You For Watching This Video...!!
