Bonifay, Florida is located in Holmes County and is home to around 2,849 residents. Originally founded as a Railroad town, its been also known as a peanut farming and agriculture production community. As the decline in traditional agriculture began, and the global competition / mechanization of farming started, the area lost a significant amount of its jobs and economy. Currently the poverty level is around 29%, and income per capita is only 21k. Many homes have been abandoned, and some businesses had to close it's doors for good. The area is prone to flooding issues, and has significant structural problems as well. The downtown still has quite a charm to it though, and the Waits Mansion is absolutely immaculate looking, so will Bonifay recover in the near future? Let's check it out...
