A place for the unsung great road journeys, starting with one of the best, the A66 from Penrith to Scotch Corner, which joins the UK’s two primary North / South roads, the M6 and A1 The A66 follows the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines, and acts as the gateway to the Lake District for those travelling from the east of the country. Combining the A1 and A66 to travel to the North of England or Scotland provides stunning views, whilst bypassing all the troublesome stretches of the M6. If travelling from Scotch Corner, be prepared for regular delays at Mainsgill Farm Shop lasting from 15-30 mins. Ever since they placed Camels out front, their entrance has become a self-fulfilling hold up where traffic slows from curious passers-by, then those fed up from the queue it has caused. Less of an issue travelling East, but unless travelling early, going West will likely incur some form of delay, so plan your toilet break accordingly. Mainsgill is worth a stop though, with extensive shopping and dining facilities. Be aware, this road nearly always as a Camera Van hiding along it's length! #UK #Travel #RoadTrip #Driving #Relaxing #Nature #Yorkshire #Countryside #Mountains #Yorshiredales #Pennines
