The British Army in the Second World War has often been overshadowed by the Soviet Union's immense sacrifices on the Eastern Front and by America's staggering industrial output. Yet British soldiers fought across nearly every theatre of the war, from the frozen fjords of Norway to the sweltering jungles of Burma, from the ancient sands of North Africa to the shattered hedgerows of Normandy and all the way into the heart of Germany itself. But how capable was the British Army really? Did it possess the tactical skill, the leadership, and the spirit to overcome Hitler's Wehrmacht?
