The Uvalde Police Department (UPD) has released 49 new videos from the Robb Elementary mass shooting. That was the day that the day 19 children and two teachers died when a gunman opened fire on a classroom. On Aug. 10, the City of Uvalde released what they thought were all of their records – including text messages, body cam footage, audio recordings, 911 calls, and more – from the day of the shooting to fulfill a court order. But just days later, more footage was found. The City of Uvalde says that an officer approached UPD Chief Homer Delgado on Aug. 12, saying some of his body camera footage was not included in the massive release over the weekend. Delgado launched a full-scale audit of the Uvalde Police servers to see if anything else had been overlooked. UPD informed District Attorney Christina Mitchell and handed over the new footage on Aug. 13. All of this footage was released because media organizations, including Sinclair Broadcast Group, filed and won a lawsuit against the City of Uvalde to gain access to this information, which had been kept from the media and the public for more than two years. On Sept. 11, UPD Sgt. Donald Page was placed on administrative leave for his role in the botched footage release. Two days later, he retired from the force. Page started with the Uvalde Police Department in 2006. He served with the Kinney County Sheriff's Office before that. The massacre was one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history. On that day, 19 fourth-grade students and two teachers were killed when a teenage gunman entered a classroom at Robb Elementary School and started firing. Nearly 400 law enforcement officers waited more than an hour to confront the gunman. _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WOAI on Instagram: / news4sa WOAI on Facebook: / news4sa WOAI on Twitter: / news4sa Subscribe to WOAI on YouTube: / @woaivideo Daily News Playlist: • WOAI 4 San Antonio Daily News Digest For more information, visit https://news4sanantonio.com/ Have a news tip?
