"I really thought of using bamboo as a material for community work, community development, for the improvement of the lives of Filipino farmers.” Dr Annett Singh shares lessons learned from over 30-years in bamboo research. Working to build bamboo ecosystems led developing products that make innovative use of the whole bamboo, not just the stalk. Her bamboo research is motivated by improving the lives of bamboo farmers in the Philippines. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 Dr. Anneth Rigon-Singh, PhD in Forestry from the University of the Philippines - Los Baños and retired professor from De La Salle-Araneta University, has dedicated her career to the study and promotion of bamboo. As President of Bambu Salubre, SANTARRA Natural Products, Inc, and BIL, OPC, she coordinated the First National Bamboo Congress in 1995. Her notable projects include developing bamboo-based agroforestry models and establishing the Marga Mabusetum, a collection of 80 bamboo species. Her research focuses on transforming bamboo leaves into products like tea, hydrosol, beer, vinegar, and bamboo leaf extract. She has also invested in bamboo processing projects in the Philippines and Vietnam. Her company, Bamboo Impact Lab, is part of the Ateneo Blue Nest incubation program.
