Prepare for an exciting ride as we dive into the world of custom modifications on Richard's '56 Chevy race truck! From the moment he drove it, he encountered a surprise when the driveshaft decided to take an unplanned vacation from the transmission. Talk about starting off with a bang! This seemingly innocent truck hides a beast under the hood—a badass aluminum-headed 406 small block engine boasting a 14.5:1 compression ratio. But here's the kicker: it's been gathering dust for a whopping four years, just begging for a makeover. In this video we're taking on the challenge of back halfing the truck and crafting a wicked four-link suspension. You see, the old setup with those puny 6" lowering blocks couldn't handle the sheer power of the engine. The rear end was bouncing around like a hyperactive squirrel on caffeine! By slapping on a four-link suspension system, we'll have full control over the pinion angle and rear end twist. Our goal? Keeping that slip yoke securely nestled within the transmission. But hey, it's not just about functionality! We're also narrowing that rear end, so we can fit some beastly 32x14-15 tires and give this classic truck the killer lowered look Richard's always dreamed of. Now, here's the kicker: neither of us has ever attempted a conversion like this before. Yep, we're diving in headfirst like a couple of crazy adrenaline junkies. Will it turn out to be an automotive masterpiece or a colossal disaster? Time will tell! We're throwing caution to the wind, making sure everything's straight and true so that this bad boy doesn't go sideways when we unleash it. Oh, and we're reinforcing the heck out of everything, because we're not keen on our creation falling apart when we hit the gas.
