When you are playing over any song or chord progression, the more options you have the better. If you know the fretboard well you can find the sound that you like best, and shift between positions with ease. In this video I share the method I use to play chord progressions in any position using the closest triads surrounding that position. Doesn't matter where you are on the neck, you can learn to find the chord your looking for. Once you know all the options you can be more creative with the way you choose to play over a given progression. Using my patented framework (just kidding, it's not patented) that I call the Big 3 Triad Shapes, I outline how I am able to find any chord in all the possible positions on the neck.
