Our home base? The Alpine village of Helen, GA, where lederhosen meets leather and bratwurst meets burnout. We kick things off by exploring this quirky, German-themed town — complete with a riverside lunch at the iconic Troll Tavern, where we watch tourists float by in neon innertubes like lazy river lemmings. Then it’s time to saddle up and ride the Richard Russell Scenic Byway, part of one of the most scenic loops in the South - Six Gap. But just as the twisties get really good… my GoPro chin mount decides to eject itself into oblivion. 😳 Luckily, Dee saves the day, filming over-the-shoulder as we climb toward Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia and the crown jewel of this ride. From the epic views at the observation tower to the rollercoaster curves of Highway 180 and the Unicoi Turnpike, this ride packs a ton of beauty and adventure into a single loop.
